7. Show examples of techniques to increase understanding

Use visuals like videos or images when referencing techniques to accommodate clients with different learning styles. Doing so will ensure they better understand how to use the described techniques.

For example, many helpful illustrations, GIFs, or videos can demonstrate breathing techniques.

Suggested approach

Show, don’t tell. Don’t ask people to imagine a visual.

Putting it into action

1ļøāƒ£ Self-reflection: Is this helpful for people with different learning styles?

2ļøāƒ£ Include at least one visual element, e.g. image or video

3ļøāƒ£ Use simple language

Avoid using technical terms that could be complicated for clients who don’t have a clinical background. Use phrasing that helps them understand an action or series of steps they could take.
